 First, what is UV-C?

The science behind the energy

THE ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM

UV-C is short wavelength (200-280 nm) ultraviolet light and has germicidal capabilities – it kills microorganisms by deactivating the DNA of bacteria, viruses and other pathogens, destroying their ability to multiply and cause disease.

Frequency asked questions

Can UV-C be dangerous to the human body?

Prolonged exposure to UV-C energy can cause damage to skin and eyes. That's why every QUaZar   UV-C TUNL

is subjected to rigorous testing requirements and routine safety approvals, so no UV-C light ever escapes the shaft.

Its transparent structure is composed of Makrolon  poly-carbonate thermoplastic resin, conditioned with mineral reinforcement and impact modification, guaranteeing zero light leakage from the system and zero worry for you.

Damage and breach smart sensors built into every critical point in the design make it possible to ensure 100% safety.

Well, what's wrong with chemical disinfectants?

A lot is wrong. Increasing evidence shows that chemical cleaning agents such as bleach, chlorine, alcohol, etc. (regularly used in shopping cart disinfectant solutions) create Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which have been found to have negative health and environmental effects. Chemical burns from shopping carts are also increasing amid growing use of chemicals on carts.

Further, they're costly, wasteful, bad for the environment and leave messy chemical residues that can drip onto the floor or get on your customers' skin and clothing.

Chemical disinfectants are not the pertinent solution.

But, doesn't all UV light kill germs?

All of the light in the UV spectrum can damage many microorganism species. However, only UV-C energy at 254 nm provides the optimal germicidal effect, delivering five-log reduction or 99.999% elimination of bacterial replication. This application of UV-C light to inactivate microbes is called Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI)

UV-C energy is produced by the sun, but it can never reach the Earth naturally, as it is all absorbed by the ozone layer before entering our atmosphere. Synthetic sources of UV-C light are imperative for utilizing UVGI.

Only UV-C is proven to kill Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

How will I learn to use a QUaZar  UV-C TUNL ?

First of all, shoppers will never need to operate, or even touch, a UV-C TUNL   (although some just can't resist, and that's ok!) Monaco Technologies   experts give your employees the skills and best practices to load a batch, execute Supernova  sequences and run diagnostics. The UV-C TUNL   does everything else autonomously.

Elegant hardware and simple, human-centered software ensure a faultless experience and flawless performance of batch nested shopping cart disinfection every time.

Shoppers just grab a cart and go, like they always have.
